If you do not configure port aggregation in this order, a network loop occurs, and your network might be shut down. WARNING: Do not connect an unmanaged switch to Ethernet ports 3 and 4 on your router if these ports are aggregated. Otherwise, a network loop occurs, and your network might be shut down. Figure 9. Ethernet port aggregation to a LAN device Set Up Ethernet Port Aggregation to a LAN Device If you are connecting a LAN device such as a switch or NAS, make sure that your LAN device supports 802.3ad LACP. To set up Ethernet port aggregation to a LAN device: 1. Set up Ethernet port aggregation on your LAN device before connecting it to your router. Note: If your LAN device supports a static link aggregation group (LAG) only, you must enable static mode on your router before you connect your device to Ethernet ports 3 and 4 on the router. See the following step for more information about how to enable static mode on your router. For information about how to set up Ethernet port aggregation on your router or computer, see the documentation that came with your router or computer. 2. Log in to your router and enable Ethernet port aggregation: a. Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to the router network. b. Enter http://www.routerlogin.net.
