GS700TPS Smart Switch Software Administration Manual Basic The Port Authentication Basic menu contains the following option: • "802.1X Configuration" 802.1X Configuration The Basic 802.1X Configuration screen allows network managers to configure network authentication parameters. In addition, the Guest VLAN option is enabled from the Basic 802.1X Configuration screen. To define the 802.1X configuration: 1. Click Security > Port Authentication > Basic > 802.1X Configuration. The Basic 802.1X Configuration screen displays: Figure 6-6 The Basic 802.1X Configuration screen contains the following fields: • Port Based Authentication State - Select whether port-based authentication is enabled or disabled on the device. The possible field values are: - Disable - Disables port-based authentication on the device. - Enable - Enables port-based authentication on the device. • Authentication Method - Select the authentication method used for port authentication. The possible field values are: - RADIUS, None - Indicates port authentication is first attempted through the RADIUS server. If the RADIUS server is inaccessible or not defined, then no authentication method (None) is used and the session is permitted. - RADIUS - Indicates port authentication is through the RADIUS server. 6-9 Managing Security v1.0, June 2009
