Chapter 9 Port-Based Traffic Control Commands This section describes the port-based traffic control commands available in the 7200RS Series Stackable Switch CLI. This section includes the following topics: • Section 9.1, "Port Security Commands" • Section 9.2 "Storm Control Commands" on page 5 • Section 9.3 "Protected Port Commands" on page 9 This section provides a detailed explanation of the security commands. The commands are divided into the following groups: • Configuration commands are used to configure features and options of the switch. For every configuration command there is a show command that will display the configuration setting. • Show commands are used to display switch settings, statistics and other information. 9.1 Port Security Commands This section describes the command you use to configure Port Security on the switch. Port security, which is also known as port MAC locking, allows you to secure the network by locking allowable MAC addresses on a given port. Packets with a matching source MAC address are forwarded normally, and all other packets are discarded.
