More on Shooting Auto Mode Macro Mode Macro mode is used for taking pictures of objects as close as 1 cm (0.4 in.). Note that the flash may be unable to light the entire subject at distances of less than 50 cm (1 ft 8 in.). When using A (auto) mode, follow the procedure below. Macro mode can also be used with some scene modes (A 39, 40, 41). 1 Press p (macro mode) on the multi selector. The macro menu is displayed. 2 Press the multi selector H or I to select ON, and press the k button. The macro mode icon (F) is displayed. If a setting is not applied by pressing the k button within a few seconds, the selection is cancelled. 3 Turn the zoom control until the zoom position reaches the position where F and the zoom indicator glow green. Macro mode How close you can be to the subject when shooting depends on the zoom position. When the zoom position is set to a position where F and the zoom indicator glow green, the camera can focus on subjects as close as about 1 7 cm (2.8 in.) from the lens. When the zoom position is in the area indicated by 1, the camera can focus on objects as close as about 1 cm (0.4 in.) from the lens. 51
