The Basics of Shooting and Playback Using the Zoom When you move the zoom control, the zoom lens position changes. • To zoom in closer to the subject: Move toward g (telephoto) • To zoom out and view a larger area: Move toward f (wide-angle) • Rotating the zoom control all the way in either direction adjusts the zoom quickly. Zoom out Zoom in • A zoom indicator is displayed at the top of the monitor when the zoom control is moved. • Digital zoom, which allows you to further magnify the subject up to approximately 4× the maximum optical zoom ratio, can be activated by moving and holding the zoom control toward g when the camera is zoomed in to the maximum optical zoom position.
