About the battery The battery used in this camera is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It is affected by humidity and temperature, and the effect increases the more the temperature rises or falls. In high temperatures, the protection function may be triggered, preventing use. Be sure to remove and store the battery after use. i If left inside the camera, a minute amount of current continues to flow even if the camera is off. Keeping the camera in this state may cause the battery to overdischarge, making it impossible to use the battery even after it has been charged. i The battery should be stored in a vinyl bag to prevent metal from contacting the terminals. i The battery should be stored in a cool place free from humidity, with as constant a temperature as possible. (Recommended temperature: 0 °C to 30 °C (32 °F to 86 °F); recommended humidity: 40 %RH to 60 %RH) i Extremely high or low temperatures will shorten the life of the battery. i Environments that are hot, humid or oily can rust the terminals and damage the battery. i If storing the battery for an extended period of time, it is recommended that you charge it once a year, use it until it is depleted, and store it again. Remove any dust adhering to the battery terminals. Prepare spare batteries when going out. i Prepare enough batteries to last for 3 to 4 times the period you are planning to record for. Cold places such as a ski resort can shorten recording time. If you drop the battery accidentally, check to see if the terminals are damaged. i Installing a battery with damaged terminals can damage the camera. Do not throw an old battery into fire. i Heating a battery or throwing it into a fire may cause it to burst or explode. If the battery does not last long even after charging, it has reached the end of its service life. Please purchase a new battery. About the AC adaptor i If the temperature of the battery is extremely high or extremely low, charging may take time or the battery may not be charged. i If the AC adaptor is used near a radio (especially during AM reception), it may generate noise in the radio. Keep the AC adaptor at least 1 meter (3.3 feet) from the radio. i When using the AC adaptor, it may generate an oscillating sound. This is normal. VQT3M88 177 IMPORTANT MESSAGES AND ALERTS
