8 Point the remote control unit towards the remote control receiver on the front or back of the camera and press the shutter release button on the remote control. The operating distance of the remote control unit is about 5 m from the front or back of the camera. For h, the shutter will be released immediately after the shutter release button is pressed. For i, the shutter will be released approximately 3 seconds after the shutter release button is pressed. When the picture is taken, the self-timer lamps light for 2 seconds and will then resume blinking. 83 5m 5m 3 Basic Operations • Exposure may be affected if light enters the viewfinder. Attach the provided ME viewfinder cap or use the AE lock function (p.162) (ignore the light entering the viewfinder when the exposure mode is set to a (Hyper-manual) (p.156)). The setting is canceled when the camera is turned off if [Drive Mode] in [Memory] of [A Rec. Mode] (p.199) is set to P (Off). • The remote control may not operate in backlit conditions. • The remote control does not work while the flash is being charged. • When using the built-in flash, raise the flash into position first. • The camera automatically returns to single frame shooting after the remote control shooting mode is left unused for 5 minutes. • The remote control unit battery can send a remote control signal about 30,000 times. Contact PENTAX service center to replace the battery (this will involve a fee).
