Notch 2- The needle is centered is the needle plate slot in straight sewing, and swings both ways in zigzag stitching. Notch 3-The needle is at the extreme right of the needle plate slot in straight sewing, and swings to the left in zigzag stitching. Pointer z indicates the position of the needle on the top scale. 9
