1. Installation Connections Connecting the telephone line cord Insert one end of the line cord into the socket on the back of the machine marked TEL. LINE. Insert the other end into a wall telephone socket. Make sure that the line cord is inserted into the TEL LINE jack. Do not insert it into the TEL. SET jack! Setting the dial mode: The fax machine is set for tone dialling. If you are on a pulse dial line, you must set the fax machine for pulse dialling. Press the keys on the operation panel as follows: FUNCTION 1 Press once and 3 times. 2 Press once and 6 times. 3 Press once. 4 Select the dial mode: TONE: 1 PULSE: 2 STOP 5 Press to exit. Display: OPTION SETTING DIAL MODE 1=TONE, 2=PULSE The display briefly shows your selection, then: QUIET TIME 11

1. Installation
Connecting the telephone line cord
Insert one end of the line cord into the socket on the back of the machine
marked
TEL. LINE
. Insert the other end into a wall telephone socket.
Setting the dial mode:
The fax machine is set for tone dialling. If you are on a pulse dial line, you
must set the fax machine for pulse dialling. Press the keys on the operation
panel as follows:
