Technical Information 02.2005 Page 3 1. Technical description 1.1 Engine STIHL single cylinder two-stroke engine Cylinder . Four-port system for better mixture preparation, optimum combustion and low exhaust emissions . Cylinder with open overflow channels . Less weight Piston . Two piston rings for optimum performance over a long service life. Crankshaft . Five-part, light crankshaft Carburetor . Diaphragm carburetor with full-throttle partially fixed nozzle, idle fixed nozzle and premixture regulation . The setting range of the main set screw is limited by a limiter cap (approx. 3/4 turn). This limitation ensures greater operating safety and maintenance of future exhaust emission levels . Accelerator pump for faster and spontaneous acceleration (see 4.3). Ignition System . Microprocessor-controlled ignition system with ignition timing adjustment for calmer idling, no-jerk starting, and optimum performance and torque . Low power-up threshold Air filter . Easily accessible . Fabric filter for normal operating conditions and winter (depending on the market, accessory) . Felt filter (depending on the market, accessory) for use in dry conditions with high dust load. Muffler . Single-chamber muffler, comes with spark-arresting screen depending on the market Clutch . With three unlined clutch shoes. . Less weight means less rotating mass, reduced gyroscopic force 1.2 Interior sprocket The internal sprocket reduces the distance between the handle and cutting plane. This optimises the balance and handling of the machine. TI_02_2005_11_01_01.fm
