ENGLISH Troubleshooting (1) If you experience a problem with this unit, please check the following items before requesting service. If it still does not operate correctly, contact the retailer where you purchased the unit. General The unit will not turn on. eeCheck that the power cord is plugged into a working power outlet. Check that the power cord is properly connected to this unit. Tuner A station cannot be received. The reception is poor. eeTune in a station properly. eeRotate or relocate the FM antenna to find the best position for reception. eeAn AM antenna is built into the unit. If reception of an AM broadcast is poor, change the orientation of the unit. Good reception might not be possible from inside condominiums and other buildings that are made of reinforced concrete. Move this unit near a window. No sound is output. eeSelect the source using the FUNCTION button. eeAdjust the volume. eeUnplug headphones from the PHONES jack. No sound is output from the speakers while the headphones' plug is inserted in the PHONES jack. eeIf "MUTING" is displayed, press the MUTING button. The sound is noisy. eeThe unit is too close to a TV set or similar appliances. Install the unit apart from them. Remote control does not work. eePress the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on. eeIf the remote control batteries die, replace both batteries with new ones. eePoint the remote control at the front panel of the unit from a distance of less than about 5 m (16 ft). eeClear obstructions between the remote control and the main unit. eeIf a strong light is near the unit, turn it off. FM stereo broadcasts become mono. eePress the FM MODE button to select stereo. CD player Playback is not possible. eeIf the disc is upside down, reload it with the labeled side up. eeIf the disc is dirty, wipe it clean. eeDiscs that do not have any recordings on them or that have not been finalized cannot be played back. Make sure that CD-R/CD-RW discs that you want to play back have recordings on them and have been finalized. eeDepending on disc quality and recording conditions, playback of some CD-R/CD-RW discs might not be possible. The sound skips. eeVibrations can cause the sound to skip. Place this unit in a stable location. eeIf the disc is dirty, wipe it clean. eeDo not play any disc that is warped, deformed or damaged. No sound is output.

Select the source using the FUNCTION button.

Adjust the volume.
e
Unplug headphones from the PHONES jack. No sound
is output from the speakers while the headphones’
plug is inserted in the PHONES jack.
e
If “MUTING” is displayed, press the MUTING button.
The sound is noisy.
e
The unit is too close to a TV set or similar appliances.

Remote control does not work.
