Chapter 2 2 LAN Installation This chapter describes how to install the Print Server in your Local Area Network. Procedure 1. Preparation • Ensure the power is OFF. Do not connect the Print Server while power is On. • Find the Default Server Name for your Print Server. The Default Server Name is shown on the back of the unit sticker. The format is TNXXXXX. The XXXXX indicates the last 5 digits of your MAC address. Record this name; it may be needed during configuration. 2. Connect the Printer or Printers Connect the printer or plotter cable(s) to the appropriate port(s) on the Print Server unit. 3. Connect to your Network Wired Network Interface Connect the network cable to the 10/100BaseT LAN connector on the Print Server. To use the LAN interface, the LAN cable needs to be inserted BEFORE powering ON. Wireless Network Interface (TEW-P11G only) Ensure your Access Point is compatible with the Print Server's default settings: SSID Null (blank) The Print Server will adopt the SSID used by the Access Point, unless the Access Point is configured not to broadcast its SSID. WEP Disabled. • In the default Wireless "Infrastructure" mode, connecting a LAN cable will disable the Wireless interface. To use both the LAN and Wireless interfaces, the Wireless mode must be changed to "Adhoc". • Because the default Wireless mode is "Infrastructure", you cannot configure the Print Server via the Wireless interface unless you have an Access Point.
