L630/L635 Details To open the Details window, click the Setup Detail button in the TOSHIBA HDD Protection Properties window. Detection Level Amplification When the AC adaptor is disconnected or the lid is closed, HDD Detection assumes that the computer will be carried and sets the detection level to the maximum for 10 seconds. TOSHIBA HDD Protection Message Specify whether to display a message when TOSHIBA HDD Protection is active. This function does not work when the computer is starting, in Sleep Mode, in Hibernation Mode, in transition to Hibernation Mode, recovering from Hibernation Mode, or power off. Be sure to not subject the computer to vibration or impact while the function is disabled. Heat Dispersal To protect from overheating, the CPU has an internal temperature sensor. If the computer's internal temperature rises to a certain level, the cooling fan is turned on or the processing speed is lowered. You can select whether to control the CPU temperature by turning on the fan first, then if necessary, lowering the CPU speed. Or, by lowering the CPU speed first, then if necessary, turning on the fan. These functions are controlled within the Power Options. When the CPU temperature falls to a normal range, the fan is turned off and the CPU operation returns to standard speed. If the CPU temperature reaches an unacceptably high level with either setting, the system automatically shuts down to prevent damage. Data in memory will be lost. User's Manual 4-39
