The user manual of analog equipment must contain the equipment's Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) and an explanation notice similar to the following: The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) of the modem, which can vary. For the REN of your modem, refer to your modem's label. The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) assigned to each terminal device provides an indication of the maximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The termination on an interface may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the Ringer Equivalence Numbers of all the devices does not exceed 5. 3. To verify that the country/region is correctly set, enter the command ATI9 which displays the currently active setting. To set the country/region permanently to Australia, enter the following command sequence: AT+GCI=09 Failure to set the modem to the Australia country/region setting as shown above will result in the modem being operated in a non-compliant manner.
