Chapter 3 VIA OnChip IDE Device Press to enter the sub-menu and the following screen appears: OnChip IDE Channel 0/1 The integrated peripheral controller contains an IDE interface with support for two IDE channels. Choose Enabled to activate each channel separately. Settings: Disabled and Enabled. IDE Prefetch Mode This allows your hard disk controller to use the fast block mode to transfer data to and from the hard disk drive. Block mode is also called block transfer, multiple commands or multiple sector read/ write. Enabled enables IDE controller to use block mode; Disabled allows the controller to use standard mode. Primary Master/Slave PIO These settings specifies the PIO mode for Primary Master/Slave IDE devices. Settings: Auto, Mode 0, Mode 1, Mode 2, Mode 3 and Mode 4. Secondary Master/Slave PIO These settings specifies the PIO mode for Secondary Master/Slave IDE devices. Settings: Auto, Mode 0, Mode 1, Mode 2, Mode 3 and Mode 4. 3-16
