INTRODUCTIOIN PREPARATIONS TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE No sound when playing a disc encoded with DTS. No sound from some speakers. Sound distorted. Sound 'skips'. Sound 'hums'. Incorrect setting(s) at the audio section of 'Setup menu' on this unit or at 'input mode' on your amplifier. With some DVD-Audio, output channels are specified by the disc. Incorrect 'Speaker settings'. (when 6CH DISCRETE outputs are connected to your amplifier) Audio output form this unit becomes two channels when the virtual surround feature is on. Virtual surround effect is emphasized too much. This unit is being subjected to vibrations or impacts. The disc is dirty. Incorrect cable connections. Noise from a nearby tuner. Noise from inside of the unit. The remote control does not work. Audio track and/or subtitle language is not the selected one. No subtitles. The tuner is too close to the unit. The disc maybe warped. The batteries are weak. Direct sunlight or lighting (from an inverter type of fluorescent lamp, etc.) is striking the remote control sensor of this unit. The disc does not contain the language you have selected. The disc does not have subtitles. Subtitle is turned off. Angle cannot be changed. The password for setting parental level has been forgotten. The disc or the scene being played does not support multi-angle. WHAT TO DO Select proper settings. Change the settings to suit your speaker system. Turn virtual surround mode off. Turn virtual surround mode off. Relocate the unit. Clean the disc. Securely connect the audio cables. If the problem persists, the cables may be defective. Place the tuner and the unit farther apart. Replace the disc. Replace all batteries with new ones. Relocate the unit. Show subtitles by pressing SUBTITLE or using on-screen menu. Clear all settings on the setup menu. See 'Returning setup menu to the factory-setting' below this table. Refer to Page 26, 27 - 29 23 23 - 3 8 - - 7 7 - - 16 - - I Returning setup menu to the factory-setting While playback is stopped, press and hold d (PAUSE), and then DISC SKIP and PLAYXCHANGE on the front panel until 'Initialized' appears on the video monitor.
