New Vehicle "Break-In" NOTICE: Your vehicledoesn't need an elaborate "break-in." But it will perform better in the long run if you followthese guidelines: Don't drive at any one speed fast or slow for the first miles (805 km). 500 Don't make full-throttle starts. Avoid making hard stops for the first 200 miles (322km) or so. During this time your new brake linings aren't yet broken in. Hard stopswith new linings can mean premature wear and earlier replacement. Follow this breaking-inguideline every time you get newbrake linings. Don't tow a trailer during break-in. See "Towing a 'lkailer" in the Index for more information. Ignition Positions C -- -- A E With the key the ignition switch, you can turn the in switch to five different positions: ACCESSORY (A): This position lets you use things the like the radio and windshield wipers when the engine is off. To use this position, push the key and in turn it toward you.Your steering wheel will remain locked, just as it was before you inserted the key. 2-14
