SECOND (2): This position gives you more power but lower fuel economy. You can use SECOND (2) on hills. go It can help control your speed as you down steep mountain roads,but then you would also want to use your brakesoff and on. FIRST (1): This position gives you even more power, SECOND (2). You can use but lower fuel economy, than If it on very steep hills, or deep snow or mud. the shift in (l), into lever is put in FIRST the transaxle won't shift first gear untilthe vehicle is going slowly enough. NOTICE: Don't drive i SECOND (2) for morethan 25 miles n (41 km), or at speeds over55 mph (88 km/h), or you can damage your transaxle. Use THIRD (3) or AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE as much as possible. With automatic overdrive, SECOND (2) will select eitherfiist orsecond gear depending on vehicle speed. If your vehicle is slowing, the transaxle will downshift to first gear 20 to at 25 miles per hour(30 to 32 km/h) for engine braking. You may noticesome variation in shift speed in SECOND when accelerating (2) or braking. Don't shift into SECOND unless you are going (2) slower than 65 mph (105 km/h), or you can damage yourengine. I NOTICE: (a) If your frontwheels can't rotate, don't to try drive. This might happen if you were stuck in very deepsand or mud or were up againsta solid object. You could damage yourtransaxle. Also, if youstop when going uphill, don't hold your vehicle there with only the accelerator pedal. This could overheat and damage the transaxle. Use your brakesto hold your vehicle in position on a hill. 2-23
