If about 15 miles(24 km)whenoutsidetemperaturesareabove it's colderthan 506F (IO"C), drivethevehicle in D (ThirdGear)untilthe enginetemperaturegagemovesandthenremainssteadyfortenminutes. Then follow the hot check procedures. To check transmission fluid cold: A cold checkismadeafterthevehicle hasbeensittingfor 8 hours or morewiththeengine off andisusedonlyas for 5 minutes if outsidetemperatures areference.Lettheenginerunatidle are 50°F (10°C) or more. If it's colder than 50°F (1O"C),youmayhaveto fluid isaddedduringa idletheenginelonger. A hotcheckmustfollowwhen coldcheck. To checkthefluidhot or cold: 0 Parkyourvehicleonalevelplace. Placetheshiftleverin P (Park)with the parkingbrakeapplied. Withyourfootonthebrakepedal,movetheshiftleverthrougheach gearrange,pausingforaboutthreeseconds in eachrange.Then, positiontheshiftlever in P (Park). Lettheenginerun at idleforthreeminutes or more.
