Trunk Trunk Lock To unlock the trunk from the outside, insert the key into the lock on the trunk and turn it clockwise. You can also press the open trunk symbol on the remote keyless entry transmitter. See Remote Keyless Entry System Operation on page 2-5 for more information. The ignition must be off, or, the transaxle must be in PARK (P), in order for the trunk to open. {CAUTION: It can be dangerous to drive with the trunk lid open because carbon monoxide (CO) gas can come into your vehicle. You can't see or smell CO. It can cause unconsciousness and even death. If you must drive with the trunk lid open or if electrical wiring or other cable connections must pass through the seal between the body and the trunk lid: • Make sure all other windows are shut. • Turn the fan on your heating or cooling system to its highest speed and select the control setting that will force outside air into your vehicle. See "Climate Control System" in the Index. • If you have air outlets on or under the instrument panel, open them all the way. See "Engine Exhaust" in the Index. Remote Trunk Release This feature is used to unlock the trunk from inside the vehicle using the power door lock switch. Press and hold the power door lock switch to the left for one and one-half seconds to unlock the trunk. The transaxle must be in PARK (P) to activate the trunk release. 2-10
