42 3 System upgrades 4 Remove the heatsink fan assembly. (1) Disconnect the heatsink fan assembly cable from its mainboard connector. (2) Using a screwdriver, loosen the four heatsink fan assembly screws from the mainboard. (3) Lift the heatsink fan assembly away from the processor. (4) Lay down the heatsink fan assembly in an upright position - with the thermal patch facing upward. Do not let the thermal patch touch the work surface. 5 Observe the post-installation instructions described on page 29.

Remove the heatsink fan assembly.
(1)
Disconnect the heatsink fan assembly cable from its
mainboard connector.
(2)
Using a screwdriver, loosen the four heatsink fan assembly
screws from the mainboard.
(3)
Lift the heatsink fan assembly away from the processor.
(4)
Lay down the heatsink fan assembly in an upright position —
with the thermal patch facing upward. Do not let the thermal
patch touch the work surface.
