5.3.4 IDE Configuration The items in this menu allow you to set or change the configurations for the IDE devices installed in the system. Select an item then press if you want to configure the item. ATA/IDE Configuration [Enhanced] Allows selection of the IDE operation mode depending on the installed operating system (OS). Set to [Enhanced] mode if you are using native OS, e.g. Windows® Server 2000/2003. Set to [Compatible] mode if you are using legacy OS, e.g. Windows ME/98/NT, MS-DOS. Configuration options: [Disabled] [Compatible] [Enhanced] The Configure SATA As and Fourth IDE Master/Slave items appear only when you set the ATA/IDE Configuration to [Enhanced] mode. Configure SATA As [IDE] Sets the configuration for the Serial ATA connectors supported by the Southbridge chip. If you want to use the Serial ATA hard disk drives as Parallel ATA physical storage devices, set this item to [IDE]. Set this item to [RAID] if you want to create a RAID volume from Serial ATA hard disk drives. Place a jumper cap on pins 1-2 of the RAID_SEL1 jumper to use the LSI Logic Embedded SATA RAID Utility (for RAID 0 or RAID 1 configuration; supported on Windows® 2000/2003 Server/XP and Red Hat® Enterprise ver. 3.0). Refer to section 4.2 Jumpers for details. Place a jumper cap on pins 2-3 of the RAID_SEL1 jumper to use the Intel® Matrix Storage Manager (for RAID 0 or RAID 1 configuration; supported on Windows® 2000/2003 Server/XP). 5-14 Chapter 5: BIOS setup
