Solving Infrared Problems Continued Problem Possible Cause Solution Cannot transmit data Infrared port does not work Direct sunlight, fluorescent light, or flashing incandescent light is close to the infrared connections. There is interference from other wireless devices. A physical obstruction is in the way. One of the devices was moved during data transmission. The orientation of the units is incorrect. The distance between the devices is too great. Direct sunlight, fluorescent light, or flashing incandescent light is close to the infrared connection. There is interference from other wireless devices. Remove the interfering light source(s). Keep remote control devices such as wireless headphones and other audio devices away from the infrared connections. Do not place objects that will interfere with a line-ofsight data transmission between the two devices. Do not move either device during data transmission. Adjust the devices so that they point directly at each other. Verify that devices are not more than 1.5 feet (0.5 meter) apart. Remove the interfering light source(s).
