Replacing the Battery The battery that comes with your computer provides power to the real-time clock and has a lifetime of about five years. When replacing the battery, use a CR2032 or equivalent 3-volt lithium coin cell battery. 1. If you have locked the Smart Cover Lock, use Computer Setup to unlock it. 2. Turn off the computer and any external devices and disconnect the power cord from the power outlet. 3. Remove the computer cover and locate the battery on the system board.
