Appendix Battery Information Your unit contains an internal (nonremovable) lithium-ion battery. The battery should last up to 8 hours, depending on usage. The battery icon in the corner of the Menu page indicates the status of the battery. If the icon is not present, the nüvi is connected to external power. To increase the accuracy of the battery gauge, fully discharge the battery and then fully charge it without interrupting the charging. For best results, do not unplug the nüvi until it is totally charged. Contact your local waste disposal department for information on properly disposing of the unit. Maximizing the Battery Life • Turn off GPS Mode when you do not need to receive GPS signals, or use Normal mode when you do not need to use WAAS or EGNOS. • Turn the backlight brightness down (on the Menu page, touch ). 42 • Do not leave your nüvi in direct sunlight. Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive heat. Resetting the nüvi If the nüvi screen stops functioning, turn the nüvi off and on again. If this does not help, do the following: 1. Disconnect the nüvi from external power. 2. Flip up the GPS antenna. 3. Press the Reset button. 4. Connect the nüvi to a power source. The nüvi should automatically turn back on and operate normally. nüvi 680 Owner's Manual
