Page 41 highlights

Getting Started 41 Switching to Sleep mode Briefly press the POWER button to turn off the display temporarily and switch your phone to Sleep mode. Sleep mode suspends your phone to a low power state while the display is off in order to save battery power. Your phone automatically goes into Sleep mode when you leave the phone idle after a certain period of time. You will still be able to receive messages and calls while your phone is in Sleep mode. Note You can set the timeout period for Sleep mode. For instructions, see "To change backlight and automatic Sleep mode settings" in Chapter 13. Your phone wakes up automatically when you receive an incoming call or a notification, such as a new text message or appointment reminder. To wake up your phone manually, briefly press the POWER button. Checking battery power To check the current battery level, refer to the battery status icon that is shown on the upper-right side of the screen. You can also tap Start > Settings > All Settings > System > Power to check the battery level. When the low-battery warning appears, make sure to save any unsaved data or files and connect the power adapter to charge the battery. See "Charging the Battery" earlier in this chapter for details.
