Operating the AIT Drive Importance of Using Compaq-Approved Cassettes Compaq-approved cassettes are thoroughly tested to meet high-quality standards. Before Compaq recommends a cassette, the quality and reliability of the magnetic media and the cassette are evaluated. Do not use unapproved cassettes; they may not be compatible with Compaq tape drives. Loading and Ejecting a Cassette Loading a Cassette Insert a cassette into the slot on the front panel of the tape drive. As the cassette is inserted, the drive takes it and automatically loads it into the drive mechanism. Ejecting a Cassette The cassette can be removed from the drive either by using a software command or by pressing the eject button. If you press the eject button, the cassette rewinds before the drive ejects the cassette from the slot. NOTE: If the eject button is pressed when the drive is busy, the drive finishes the task it is engaged in before it responds.
