Battery Removal and replacement procedures Description 8-cell, 73-Wh, 2.55-Ah Li-ion battery (for use with all computer systems) 6-cell, 47-Wh, 2.2-Ah Li-ion battery (for use with computer systems equipped with the UMA system board only) Spare part number 480385-001 486766-001 Before disassembling the computer, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. Remove the battery: 1. Turn the computer upside down on a flat surface. 2. Slide the battery release latch 1 to release the battery. 3. Pivot the battery 2 upward and remove it from the computer. To install the battery, insert the rear edge of the battery into the battery bay and pivot the front edge of the battery downward until it is seated. Battery
Before disassembling the computer, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
Remove the battery:
1. Turn the computer upside down on a flat surface.
2. Slide the battery release latch

to release the battery.
3. Pivot the battery

upward and remove it from the computer.
To install the battery, insert the rear edge of the battery into the battery bay and pivot the front edge of the battery
downward until it is seated. The battery release latch automatically locks the battery into place.
