Audio/infrared board Removal and replacement procedures Description Audio/infrared board (includes cable) Spare part number 518166-001 Before removing the audio/infrared board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-7). 5. Remove the following components: a. Primary and secondary hard drive covers (see "Hard drive covers" on page 4-9) b. Primary and secondary hard drives (see "Hard drive" on page 4-12) c. Optical drive (see "Optical drive" on page 4-8) d. Switch cover and keyboard (see "Switch cover and keyboard" on page 4-21) e. Speaker assembly (see "Speaker assembly" on page 4-26) f. Display assembly (see "Display assembly" on page 4-28) g. Top cover (see "Top cover" on page 4-37) Remove the audio/infrared board: 1. Position the computer with the front toward you. 2. Open the audio/infrared board cable LIF connector 1, and disconnect the cable from the system board. 3. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw 2 that secures the audio/infrared board to the base enclosure. 4. Lift the audio/infrared board 3 straight up to remove it from the base enclosure. Audio/infrared board
Before removing the audio/infrared board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
“Battery” on page 4-7
).
5. Remove the following components:
a.
Primary and secondary hard drive covers (see
“Hard drive covers” on page 4-9
)
b.
Primary and secondary hard drives (see
“Hard drive” on page 4-12
)
c.
Optical drive (see

)
d.
Switch cover and keyboard (see

Remove the audio/infrared board:
1. Position the computer with the front toward you.
2. Open the audio/infrared board cable LIF connector

, and disconnect the cable from the system board.
3. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw

that secures the audio/infrared board to the base enclosure.
4. Lift the audio/infrared board
3
straight up to remove it from the base enclosure.
Reverse this procedure to install the audio/infrared board.
