Verify the Switch Passes Self Test After you have installed any modules and the optional second power supply, but before mounting the switch in its network location, you should first verify it is working properly by plugging it into a power source and verifying it passes its self test. If you have installed a second power supply, repeat these procedures with the second power supply to verify it works correctly also. 1. Connect the power cord supplied with the switch to the power connector on the back of the switch, and then into a properly grounded electrical outlet. They are powered on when the power cord is connected to the switch and to a power source. If your installation requires a different power cord than the one supplied with the switch, please see the "Installation Precautions" on page 2-6. 2. Check the LEDs on the switch and on each of the switch modules. The LED behavior is described on the next page. If the LED display is different than what is described, especially if the Fault LED stays on for more than approximately 120 seconds or it starts blinking, the self test has not completed correctly. Refer to chapter 4, "Troubleshooting" for diagnostic help. 2-15

4. Verify the Switch Passes Self Test
After you have installed any modules and the optional second power supply,
but before mounting the switch in its network location, you should first verify
it is working properly by plugging it into a power source and verifying it passes
its self test.
If you have installed a second power supply, repeat these procedures with the
second power supply to verify it works correctly also.

Connect the power cord supplied with the switch to the power connector
on the back of the switch, and then into a properly grounded electrical
outlet.

The Series 5400zl Switches do not have a power switch. They are powered on
