2 Using Your PC Working in Comfort Summary Recommendations The recommendations in the following illustrations are drawn from the latest available international ergonomic standards and recommendations, including ISO 9241 and ANSI/HFS 100-1988. Do not tilt your head forward by more than 15 degrees, and try not to turn your head toward the side. Place your display so that the top of the screen is at or slightly below eye level (but no more than 15 degrees). Make sure frequently used equipment is within easy reaching distance from your body. For example, if you are primarily using the keyboard, place it directly in front of you, not to the side. If you are primarily using the mouse, place it in front of your hand or arm. If you are using both a mouse and a keyboard, place them both at the same work surface height. If a wrist rest is used, the height should be flush with the front edge of the keyboard. Make sure there is sufficient room under the work surface for your legs. Adjust your seat height, work surface or both to position the surface at approximately elbow height. If after adjusting your chair, you cannot rest your feet comfortably on the ground, use a footrest, preferably adjustable in height and angle. Remember to occasionally shift position and move your body. Keeping your body "locked" in one position for a long period of time is unnatural and stressful. 32 English
