Installing and Configuring Enhanced DFS 3.0 Before Installing and Configuring Enhanced DFS 3.0 Before Installing and Configuring Enhanced DFS 3.0 Before you install and configure Enhanced DFS 3.0, you must: • Create the file system for the root.dfs/ fileset. HP recommends creating an Episode file system, or migrating a UFS file system to Episode. If you migrate an Episode file system, before you run dce_config or perform the migration procedure, use the HP-UX Logical Volume Manager (LVM) to create the logical volume on which you want to store the Episode file system. This destroys any data on that volume. Be sure to select "None" for the file system "Usage:" field for this logical volume. Alternatively, you can use the entire physical disk for the Episode file system, in which case no special steps are needed. If you are creating a UFS file system, you can create the file system manually using HP-UX file system commands (for example, newfs), or you can use an existing file system. You should configure the first (if more than one) FLDB server on the machine that exports root.dfs. • Install the prerequisite software and patches described in the HP DCE/9000 Enhanced DFS Version 3.0 Release Note. 27
