Installing a memory module This section describes how to install a memory module. Supported DIMM configurations The HP xw4600 Workstation supports these memory module configurations: ● 512 MB to 8 GB RAM ● Four DIMM slots ● Dual-channel DIMMs Memory module requirements CAUTION: HP only ships DIMMs that are electrically and thermally compatible with this workstation. Because third-party DIMMs might not be electrically or thermally compatible, they are not supported by HP. NOTE: DIMMs and their sockets are keyed for proper installation. Be sure these guides line up when installing DIMMs. Use only industry-standard, unbuffered, PC2-5300E (667 MHz) or PC2-6400E (800 MHz) DIMMs. If multiple DIMMs are installed in a workstation, they must be installed in pairs of the same size and type in each channel.
