BATTERY CHARGING 3 D Regular chrging with the BC-192 The BC-192 provides regular charging of only the BP-264 Ni-MH battery pack. Never use it to charge any other battery pack. 4 BASIC OPERATION ■ Operating mode selection Operating modes are determined by the modulation of the radio signals. The transceiver has two operating modes, FM and FM-N (narrow). 5 REPEATER AND DUPLEX OPERATIONS ■ Auto repeater function The U.S.A. and Korean versions automatically use standard repeater settings (duplex ON/OFF, duplex direction, tone encoder ON/OFF) when the operating frequency falls within or outside of the general repeater output frequency range. 6 MEMORY/CALL CHANNELS ■ Copying memory/call contents This function transfers a memory channel's contents to VFO (or another memory/call channel). 8 PRIORITY WATCH ■ Priority watch types 1 While operating on a VFO frequency or scanning, the priority watch checks for signals on the set priority frequency every 5 seconds. SET MODES 9 D Tuning step (TS) Selects the tuning step between 5, 10, 12.5, 15, 20, 25, 30, 50, 100, 125 and 200 kHz for the dial operation. 5.0 kHz tuning step The default value may differ, depending on the selected frequency band (before accessing the Set mode) and the transceiver version. The VOX delay is the amount of time the transmitter stays ON after you stop speaking. SET MODES 9 D Display backlighting (LIGHT) The transceiver has a display backlighting with a 5 second timer for night time operation. 9 SET MODES D Power save (P SAVE) The power save function allows you conserve battery life by selecting the duty cycle of the receiver. Select the ratio of the power save time to the standby time. SET MODES 9 D LCD contrast (CONT) Selects the LCD contrast. (default: Auto) • Auto : Sets the contrast to high. However, if the transceiver is exposed to high temperatures, it automatically sets the contrast to low. • HI : Sets the contrast to high. • LO : Sets the contrast to low.
