Shooting, Playback and Setup Menus Basic Camera Setup: The Setup Menu U Motion Detection Press the d button M z (Setup menu) (A 112) M U Motion detection Enable motion detection to reduce the effects of subject movement and camera shake when shooting still pictures. Auto (default setting) When the camera detects the camera shake or subject movement, the shutter speed will be increased for reducing the effects of them. However, motion detection does not function in the following situations. • When the flash mode is set to m (fill flash) • When the ISO sensitivity option (A 99) is set to High ISO sensitivity auto or ISO sensitivity is fixed at a particular value in A (auto) mode • When Continuous (A 97) is set to Multi-shot 16 • When shooting in some scene modes (A 34) Off Motion detection is not enabled. At settings other than Off, the icon for the current setting is displayed in the monitor (A 6, 21). When the camera detects subject movement or camera shake and the shutter speed is increased, the motion detection icon will turn green. B Notes on Motion Detection • Motion detection may be unable to completely eliminate the effects of the subject movement and camera shake in some situations. • Motion detection may not function if the subject exhibits significant movement or is too dark. 120 • The pictures taken may become somewhat grainy.
