Shooting in Scene Mode Shooting Suited for the Scene Shooting in the Scene Mode Selected by the Camera (Scene Auto Selector) By simply framing a picture, the camera automatically selects the optimum scene mode for simpler shooting. When the camera is aimed at a subject in x scene auto selector scene mode, the camera automatically selects one of the following scene modes: • Auto (A 20) • Night portrait (A 35) • Backlight (A 39) • Portrait (A 34) • Night landscape (A 37) • Landscape (A 35) • Close-up (A 37) 1 Press the A button in shooting mode to display the shooting-mode selection menu and use the multi selector to select x (Scene auto selector) (A 33). The camera enters scene auto selector scene mode. Scene auto selector 2 Frame the subject and take the picture. When the camera automatically selects a scene mode, the shooting mode icon changes to that for the scene mode currently enabled. d: Auto g: Night landscape e: Portrait i: Close-up 18 f: Landscape j: Backlight h: Night portrait Press the shutter-release button halfway to set focus and exposure. Press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down to take the picture. B Note on Scene Auto Selector Scene Mode Depending upon shooting conditions, the camera may not select the desired scene mode. Should this occur, switch to A (auto) mode (A 20) or select the desired scene mode manually (A 33). C Flash Mode in Scene Auto Selector Scene Mode U (Auto) (default setting) and W (Off) flash mode settings can be applied (A 28). • When U (Auto) is applied, the camera automatically selects the optimum flash mode setting for the scene mode it has selected. • When W (Off) is applied, the flash does not fire, regardless of shooting conditions. C Functions Restricted in Scene Auto Selector Scene Mode • Digital zoom is not available. • The macro mode button on the multi selector (A 9, 31) is disabled. 40 • AF area mode (A 100) is set to Auto in i (Close-up) mode.
