Automatic Shooting of a Smiling Face Shooting in Smile Mode The camera detects that a face recognized with face priority is smiling and shoots automatically. 1 Enter smile mode by pressing the A button in shooting mode and selecting a (press the multi selector H or I), and then Smile pressing the k button. 2 Frame a picture. Point the camera at the subject. When the camera detects a face looking toward the camera, the focus area containing the face will be displayed with a yellow double border. The camera focuses on the face framed by the double border. The 18 double border will glow green and focus will be locked. Up to three faces can be detected. When the camera detects more than one face, the face closest to the center of the frame is framed by a double border and the others by single borders. 3 The shutter is automatically released. If the camera detects that the face framed by the double border is smiling, the shutter is automatically released. When the camera detects a face, the self-timer lamp (A 4) blinks. Immediately after the shutter is released with detection of a smiling face, the self-timer lamp flickers. Each time the shutter is released, the camera automatically take pictures using the recognizing face and the detecting smiling face features repeatedly. At default settings, the blink proof function is activated (A 46). 4 Exit smile mode by pressing the A button. Change to another shooting mode. Automatic Shooting of a Smiling Face C Face Priority and Smiling Face Detection Features When the camera is pointed at a face looking toward the camera in smile mode, the face is automatically recognized and the smiling face of the recognized one is detected. • In some shooting conditions, face recognition does not work and faces cannot be detected. • See "Face Priority" (A 102) for more information. 45
