Shooting Options: The Shooting Menu G AF Area Mode Use this option to determine where the camera focuses. When digital zoom is in effect, focus will be on the center of the screen regardless of the settings used. z Face priority (default setting) When the camera recognizes a face (front view), the camera will focus on that face. See "Face Priority" (A 104) for more information. If more than one face is recognized, focus will be on the face closest to the camera. When shooting non-human subjects or when no faces are recognized, AF area mode will switch to Auto, and the camera will automatically select the focus area (one of nine) containing the subject closest to the camera. w Auto Camera automatically selects the focus area (one of nine) containing the subject closest to the camera. Press the shutter-release button halfway to activate the focus area. When the shutter-release button is pressed halfway, the focus area selected by the camera will be displayed in the monitor. 1/125 F3.2 11 1/125 F3.2 11 Focus area x Manual This option is suited to situations in which the intended subject is relatively still and not positioned in the center of the frame. Press the rotary multi selector H, I, J or K to select from 99 focus areas in the frame. Pictures can be taken while focus-area selection screen is displayed. To end focus-area selection and adjust the flash, macro, self-timer and exposure compensation settings, press k. To return to the focus-area selection screen, press k.
