Taking Portrait (Smile Face) Shots Automatically Using the Smile Mode C Face Priority and Smiling Face Detection features When the camera is pointed at a person's face (front view) in the smile mode, the face is automatically recognized and the smiling face of the recognized person is detected. • In some shooting conditions, face recognition does not work and faces cannot be detected. • See "Face Priority" (A 104) for more information about Face Priority. C Operation of Shutter-Release Button Press the shutter-release button to shoot pictures. • When Face priority takes effect, the focus is locked on the recognized face and the shutter-release button is automatically released. • When the Face priority doesn't take effect, the camera focuses on subject in center of frame. C Available Functions in Smile Mode • Settings can be changed for Flash mode (A 28) and Exposure Compensation (A 32). • Pressing the d button in the smile mode can change the image mode (A 95). Changes made to these settings apply to all shooting modes (except high-speed continuous mode and movie mode). • Digital zoom is not available. Face Priority and Smiling Face Detection features
When the camera is pointed at a person’s face (front view) in the smile mode, the face is
automatically recognized and the smiling face of the recognized person is detected.
In some shooting conditions, face recognition does not work and faces cannot be detected.

Operation of Shutter-Release Button
Press the shutter-release button to shoot pictures.
