Chapter 4 Shooting - Dual codec recording Dual codec recording Recording in different formats for main recording and sub recording can be performed on the camera. For sub recording, you can select HD proxy in AVC‑LongG 6 format with 1920×1080 resolution or one of three SD proxies with different resolution. The file format is MOV that is suitable for nonlinear editing. For the combination with the main recording, refer to "System modes and recording functions" (page 74). Dual codec recording setting Setting menu When recording proxy data with the camera, set in the main menu → [RECORDING SETUP] → [DUAL CODEC SETTING]. [REC MEDIA] Item [PROXY MODE] [PROXY DISP] Description of settings Selects media for recording proxy data. [P2]: Records proxy data to a P2 card. [P2&SD]: Records proxy data to both of a P2 card and SD memory card. [OFF]: Does not record proxy data. ffFactory setting: [OFF] Sets the recording mode of proxy data. [LOW 2CH MOV], [HQ 2CH MOV], [SHQ 2CH MOV], [AVC-G6 2CH MOV] ffFactory setting: [HQ 2CH MOV] Selects whether to display proxy data recorded information or messages in the viewfinder and LCD monitor. [ON]: Displays proxy recording information and SD memory card remaining capacity at the start of recording. Warning information is displayed at all times. [OFF]: Displays proxy and SD memory card warning information for only three seconds when warning occurs. ffFactory setting: [OFF] ffFor details on relations between dual codec recording and system mode, refer to "System modes and recording functions" (page 74). ffWhen recording proxy data, set [SPLIT] in the main menu → [RECORDING SETUP] → [FILE SPLIT]. Checking the setting status Push the switch on the camera towards the side twice to check the menu values of [REC MEDIA] and [PROXY MODE] with the mode check function. Push the switch towards the side twice to display the proxy data recording information on the viewfinder and LCD monitor. Recording to the SD memory card To record the proxy data, use SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards with an indication of class2 or higher.
