- The upper thread breaks: 1. The needle is bent or inaccurately in serted-replace the needle (see page 6. The upper tension is too strong - loo sen it (see page 25). 7. The eye of the needle has a cutting edge - replace the needle. 2. Knotty, inferior quality thread is being used - use a better quality. 3. The upper thread is incorrectly thread ed - thread the machine correctly (see page 17). 4. The needle is too fine for the thread or fabric - use a thicker needle (see pages 10, 11 and 12). 5. The tension regulator spring 735090 is broken - get a new one to replace it. 8. The bobbin case has a rough spot cutting the thread - take out the bobbin case and consult your dealer. 9. The needle plate hole has a cutting edge - smoothen it with emerycloth. 10. The feed does not transport the work properly owing to an accumulation of lint and thread ends - unscrew the needle plate and clean the feed as sembly thoroughly. 69 H
