Constant contact will cause trimmerhead damageand prematurewear. CROWDED 1 ®WARNING Always wear eye protection. Never lean over the trim- mer head.Rocksor debriscan ricochet or eyesand faceand cause blindnessorother betlmiwn into serious injury. 1. TRIMMING - Figure12 Hold the tap buttonabout 3 inchesabove theground and tilt the trimmer head atan angle. Allow the tipofthe line to do the cutting. Do not force the trimmer line into the work area. The direct drive design of the engine allows the trimmer head to turn when the engine is idling. This speed is good for slow, controlled trimming around tender plants. 2. SCALPING - Figure13 The scalping technique removes unwanted vegetation. Hold the tap button about 3inchesabove theground and tilt the trimmer head at an angle. Allow the tip of the line to strike the ground around trees, posts, monuments, etc. This technique increases line wear 3. MOWING - Figure 14 Your trimmer is ideal formowing in placesconventional lawn mowers cannot reach. In the mowing position, keep the line parallel to the ground. Avoid pressing the head into the ground as this can scalp the ground and damage the tool. Figure 11 4. SWEEPING - Figure 1.5 The fanning action of the rotating line can be used for a quickand easy clean up. Keep the line parallel toand above the surfaces being swept and move the tool from side to side. Figure 12 7/aStva3 Figure 13 Figure 14 N Figure 15 13
