Advanced recording SCENE Using the iScene function, you can select a setting that matches the scene you are shooting (Sports, Portrait, etc.). Based on your selection, the camcorder sets the appropriate shutter speed and aperture automatically for optimal recording. Select the record mode by pressing the MODE button. page 29 1. Touch the Menu ( ) tab " SCENE." 2. Touch the desired submenu item. • To change the current page, touch the up ( )/down ( ) tab. SCENE Auto Sports 1/2 Portrait Spotlight 3. To exit the menu, touch the Exit ( ) or Return ( ) tab. Submenu items • Auto: For recording under normal conditions. • Sports ( ): For recording people or objects in motion. • Portrait ( ): For recording portraits. Captures natural skin tones. • Spotlight ( ): When strong light strikes the subject. On stage, for example. • Beach/Snow ( ): Where the reflection of light is intense such as a snowfield or beach. • Food ( ): To make food more colorful. • Candle Light ( ): For recording in the soft glow of candlelight. • Indoor ( ): For recording indoors with artificial light. When you specify "Aperture: Manual" or "Shutter: Manual," the SCENE mode is cancelled. Video Resolution You can select the resolution of the video to be recorded. Video Resolution 1080/60i 720/60p 1/1 480/60p Submenu items • 1080/60i ( ): Records in the HD (1920x1080/60i) format. • 720/60p ( ): Records in the HD (1280x720/60p) format. • 480/60p ( ): Records in the SD (720x480/60p) format. • "60i" indicates the camcorder will record in interlaced scan mode at 60 fields per second. • "60p" indicates the camcorder will record in progressive scan mode at 60 frames per second. • Recorded files are encoded using Variable Bit Rate (VBR). VBR is an encoding system that automatically adjusts the bit rate in response to the image being recorded. • The available video recording time differs according to the video resolution you select. page 37 53
