Section 6: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive different types of messages. It also includes the features and functionality associated with messaging. Types of Messages Your phone provides the following message types: • Text Messages • Multimedia (Picture) Messages • IM Messages • Mobile Email • Voicemail The Short Message Service (SMS) lets you send and receive text messages to and from other mobile phones and email addresses. To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your service provider's message service. The Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) lets you send and receive multimedia messages (such as picture messages) to and from other mobile phones and email addresses. To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your service provider's multimedia message service. Creating and Sending New Text Messages Tip: From the Idle screen, press the Up Navigation key to access the New Message screen. 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Messaging ➔ Create Message ➔ Text Message. Tip: In Idle mode, you can access your messages by pressing up on the Navigation key. 2. Enter text into the message field. For more information, refer to "Entering Text" on page 24. 3. When you have finished writing your Text Message, press the Options soft key. Choose from the following options: • Insert: allows you to insert a message from the Text Templates, a Contact List entry, or a URL from your Favorites menu. • Save to: allows you to save the message to Drafts or My Folder. • Select Language: allows you to set the language to English, Français, or Español. 28

Types of Messages
Your phone provides the following message types:
Text Messages
Multimedia (Picture) Messages
IM Messages
Mobile Email
Voicemail
The Short Message Service (SMS) lets you send and receive text
messages to and from other mobile phones and email addresses.
To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your service
provider’s message service.
The Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) lets you send and
receive multimedia messages (such as picture messages) to and
from other mobile phones and email addresses. To use this
feature, you may need to subscribe to your service provider’s
multimedia message service.
Creating and Sending New Text Messages
Tip:
From the Idle screen, press the
Up
Navigation key to access the New
Message screen.

In Idle mode, press
Menu
Messaging
Create Message
Text Message
.
Tip:
In Idle mode, you can access your messages by pressing up on the
Navigation key.

Enter text into the message field. For more information,
refer to
“Entering Text”
on page 24.
3.
When you have finished writing your Text Message, press
the
Options
soft key. Choose from the following options:
• Insert
:
allows you to insert a message from the Text Templates, a
Contact List entry, or a URL from your Favorites menu.
Save to
: allows you to save the message to
Drafts
or
My Folder
.
Select Language
: allows you to set the language to English,
Français, or Español.
