Customizing Your Camcorder Changing the MENU settings Note When you let the subject monitor the shot (Mirror mode), the menu display does not appear. Menu items are displayed as the following six icons: CAMERA SET VTR SET LCD SET (DCR-TRV203/TRV210/TRV310 only) LCD/VF SET (DCR-TRV315 only) TAPE SET SETUP MENU OTHERS Depending on your camcorder model The MENU display may be different from that in this illustratron. Selecting the mode setting of each item r is the factory setting. Menu items differ according to whether the POWER switch is set to VTR or CAMERA. POWER Icon/item Mode Meaning switch D ZOOM ON To activate digital zoom. More than 20× to 360× CAMERA zoom is performed digitally (p. 17) r OFF To prevent the deterioration of the picture quality 16:9WIDE r OFF - CAMERA ON To record a 16:9 wide picture (p. 29) STEADYSHOT r ON To compensate for camera-shake CAMERA OFF To cancel the SteadyShot function. Natural pictures are produced when shooting a stationary object with a tripod. N.S. LIGHT r ON To use the NightShot Light function (p. 20) CAMERA OFF To cancel the NightShot Light function Notes on the SteadyShot function •The SteadyShot function will not correct excessive camera-shake. •Attachment of a conversion lens (not supplied) may influence the SteadyShot function. •SteadyShot does not operate in the 16:9WIDE mode. If you set STEADYSHOT to ON in the MENU settings, the indicator flashes. 55
