190 Keeping Your Files Safe Hard disk drive passwords - Windows 2000 If the Toshiba Console is not available, follow the steps below: 1 Click on Start, then Run. 2 Click the Browse button. 3 Click Program Files, Toshiba, and then the Windows Utilities folder. 4 Click on the SVPWTool folder, and then double-click the SVPW32 icon. 5 Click OK. 6 Enter the password information and then click OK. Hard disk drive passwords - Windows 2000 Your computer comes with a program preinstalled that lets you set two types of hard disk drive passwords, user and master. These passwords protect your primary and secondary hard disks as follows: ❖ Setting a hard disk drive user password prevents an unauthorized user from accessing your hard disk, even if it is removed and installed on another computer. This password does not encrypt data on the hard disk. ❖ Setting a hard disk drive master password lets you bypass the hard disk drive user password and access your hard disk, in case you forget the hard disk drive user password.
