194 Keeping Your Files Safe Hard disk drive passwords - Windows 2000 If there is no hard disk drive user password set, HDDPWD32 displays a warning and asks you whether you want to delete the hard disk drive master password. 5 To delete the hard disk drive master password, type Y. To exit without deleting the password, type N. If you choose Y, HDDPWD32 prompts you to enter your password. 6 Type your password and press Enter. If the password you typed matches the registered hard disk drive master password, the password is deleted. 7 Shut down and restart the computer for your changes to take effect. Setting a hard disk drive user password To set a hard disk drive password: 1 If you want to create a password diskette, connect your diskette drive. For instructions, see "Connecting an external diskette drive" on page 64 or "Inserting a module into the Slim SelectBay®" on page 73, depending upon the type of diskette drive you have. 2 Click Start, then click Run. 3 In the Run box, type: c:\toshiba\hddpwd32 and press Enter. The Hard Disk Drive Password program, HDDPWD32, displays a warning screen. 4 To set a hard disk drive user password, type 1 and press Enter. To quit without setting a password, type 3 and press Enter. HDDPWD32 displays another warning and asks you whether you want to set a hard disk drive user password.
