Troubleshooting Procedure (cont'd.) Step 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 Check Replace the Color Registration Sensor. Did this fix the problem? Replace the Engine Controller Board EEPROM. Did this fix the problem? Scan Direction: Use the Supplies Page to identify the problem color. Remove the Imaging Unit of the suspect color. Inspect the grounding shaft. See "Imaging Unit Cleaning" on page 8-225 Has the shaft shifted? Visually inspect the Imaging Unit guides, on the Printer Unit Chassis, for debris or damage. Are the guides damaged or obstructed? Check the Color Registration Sensor for dirt or debris. Be sure to check in and around the registration shutter. Verify the Color Registration Shutter opens and closes by actuating the registration shutter solenoid from service diagnostics. Is the shutter and solenoid functioning correctly? Are the LED Head ribbon cables undamaged, properly routed and seated? Swap the LED Head of the problem color with any other LED Head. Print a Supplies Page. Has the problem moved with the LED Head? Replace the suspect LED Head assembly. Did this correct the problem? Replace the Color Registration Sensor. Did this correct the problem? Replace the Engine Controller Board EEPROM. Did this fix the problem? Yes Complete Complete. Replace the Imaging Unit. Clean the guides on the Printer Unit Chassis or Replace the damaged assembly. Clean the sensor. Go to step [13]. Go to step [14]. Replace the defective LED Head. Complete Complete Complete No Go to step [9]. Replace the Engine Controller Board. Go to step [10]. Go to step [11]. Go to step [12]. debris.

Be sure to check in and around the registration

shutter.

Replace the
