Carrying Cargo Load Limits The maximum load for your vehicle is: LX model: 1,349 lbs (612 kg) EX model: 1,388 lbs (630 kg) EX-L model: 1,322 lbs (600 kg) Touring models: 1,208 lbs (548 kg) This figure includes, cargo, accessories, and the tongue weight if you are towing a trailer. Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit: 1. Locate the statement, ''the combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 1,208 lbs'' on your vehicle's placard (The placard is on the driver's doorjamb. The 1,208 lbs limit is for Touring models). 2. Determine the combined weight of the driver and passengers that will be riding in your vehicle. 3. Subtract the combined weight of the driver and passengers from 1,208 lbs. 4. The resulting figure equals the available amount of cargo and luggage load capacity. For example, if the maximum load is 1,208 lbs, and there will be five 150 lbs passengers in your vehicle, the amount of available cargo and luggage load capacity is 458 lbs [1,208 750 (5 150) = 458 lbs]. 5. Determine the combined weight of luggage and cargo being loaded in the vehicle. The weight may not safely exceed the available cargo and luggage load capacity calculated in step 4 (458 lbs in this example). 6. If your vehicle will be towing a trailer, the load from your trailer will be transferred to your vehicle. To determine how this reduces the available cargo and luggage load capacity of your vehicle, see page 338 . Before Driving CONTINUED 315
