MAINTENANCE AND ADJUSTMENTS 123 Engine Oil System In order for the engine to function properly, maintain the engine oil at the proper level, and change the oil and replace the oil filter in accordance with the Periodic Maintenance Chart. Not only do dirt and metal particles collect in the oil, but the oil itself loses its lubricative quality if used too long. Oil and/or Oil Filter Changes In accordance with the Maintenance Chart, change the engine oil and oil filter with the following procedure. Level the watercraft port to starboard as well as fore to aft. In a well-ventilated area, start the engine while flushing the cooling system. j • • A. Oil Filler Cap B. Engine Oil System
In order for the engine to function properly, main-
tain the engine oil at the proper level, and change
the oil and replace the oil filter in accordance with
the Periodic Maintenance Chart. Not only do dirt and
metal particles collect in the oil, but the oil itself loses
its lubricative quality if used too long.
Oil and/or Oil Filter Changes
In
accordance
with
the
Maintenance
Chart,
change the engine oil and oil filter with the following
procedure.
Level the watercraft port to starboard as well as
fore to aft.
In a well-ventilated area, start the engine while
flushing the cooling system.
CAUTION
The engine must be running before the water
is turned on and the water must be turned off
before the engine is stopped.
Do not run the engine without cooling water
flow for more than 15 seconds.
Warm up the engine and stop it.
Remove the oil filler cap and the dipstick.

CAUTION
